http://www.trekkingbritain.com walking website presents. Photos from a walk on myself along the High Stile ridge above Buttermere. I set off by myself at 4am one cold winter morning to get to the Lakes as early as possible, I ended up arriving in the dark at Buttermere Village. The walk was brilliant with awesome views and perfect weather all day. The Scales Force waterfall had ice all round it and the valley path above it was very scary and covered in thick ice with sheer drops to the beck. Great day, I wasn't going to do Haystacks but I was having such a good time I thought what the hell and enjoyed lunch with Alfred Wainwright, this was my first visit to his resting place at Innominate Tarn and it was a very humbling experience.
