Left to our own devices, Adam and I explore Edinburgh. Soon we find ourselves at Armstrongs, a vintage clothing and knick-knack emporium. (I was in heaven.) Next we take a stroll beside the Princes Street Gardens, enjoying the beautiful view of Edinburgh Castle. Following that, we take on the challenge of climbing all 287 steps of the Scott Monument are rewarded for our efforts with a breathtaking 360 view of the city.
Backtracking to Victoria Street, we enjoy a delicious lunch at Oink followed by some browsing at nearby shops such as Walker Slater. We meet up with Theresa who takes us to Patisserie Madeleine for coffee and delicious, hand-made macaroons.
We return to Theresa's flat for a cup of tea and to meet up with Kirstin. We take our leave of Theresa - after she tosses my forgotten gloves to me from her window above - and Kirstin takes us down the Royal Mile past Scottish Parliament to the gates of Holyrood Palace.
