Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion on Metrolinx (September 24, 2008 Mississauga Council Meeting). Bramptonians, you can read about it (see below) or listen in for yourself. Should Mayor Fennell be "disappointed"? Certainly Mississauga Mayor McCallion is "disappointed" that Mayro Fennell is "disappointed".

(Have to say. It's tough for this Mississaugan to believe an LRT would stop at the border of Brampton without major squawking by Brampton's "community partner", Mississauga....]

BRAMPTON - Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell and her council have expressed extreme disappointment that a $50 billion plan for transit funding around the GTA announced this week did not include Bramptons five priority projects.

Theres no new money for projects in the City of Brampton, Fennell said of the Metrolinx draft plan. Were ready to roll here in Brampton. Were ahead of the curve.

She said the city should be very upset at being left out and councillors have passed a formal council resolution vowing to express that dismay to area MPPs, the Metrolinx board, and key provincial politicians.

The biggest letdown: The Metrolinx draft plan did not even mention Bramptons proposal to build a mobility hub at Mount Pleasant, the northeast end of the city. The $23 million the city is looking for would build the live-work community around the GO station, and it would be a model of sustainability that incorporates bike trails and walking paths and other alternate transportation opportunities, according to city officials.

It (mobility hub) is a provincial word, Fennell said, stressing the project is a model of everything that the provinces own policies extoll.

canadacup's comment, "Hazel McCallon is the greatest Mayor Mississauga has ever and will ever have." is written by someone who 1. doesn't know the real Hazel McCallion and 2. is predicting a truly dismal future for the City of Mississauga.

  • Hazel McCallon is the greatest Mayor Mississauga has ever and will ever have.

    God Bless you Hazel.
