My Horse, Ladybug - May Angels Lead You In

On March 19, 3 years ago I lost my best friend. Ladybug, a 16 year old bay Peruvian Paso/Arabian mix. She was a very noble horse and I could go to her when I was feeling down and she would turn my frown upside down. I loved her to death and we would show almost every day in the summer time. We rode everyday from my house to a road about 6 miles away, and she enjoyed the ride everytime. I had her for 2 years before she died, and in that short time, we built a friendship that is just...unexplainable. But the problem is that she didn't just die...she was taken away from me.

On March 18, 2005 we gave all our horses their west nile shots and Ladybug her 5-way shot, so that we could go to fair. But before the vet left, we asked him to do a preg test on her, we bred her to our buckskin stallion hoping to get a foal from her. He agreed, but he also gave her a sedative shot without asking us. At first we didn't think nothing of it. I went to go spend the night at my friends house and the next day my mom called me saying that she was colicing. My thoughts were, "She'll get through this, she'll get through this..." But after 5 hours of walking her around the pasture, we called our neighbors to see if they would come help. They showed up and said that we need to get her loaded in the trailer and take her to a vet. We did so and everyone scrambled around, getting keys to the gate, hooking the pickup to the tralier, turning out the other horses...but before we could even hook the trailer up, Ladybug fell over behind it and died. She didn't colic, her system was shutting down because the vet gave her a sedative and later we asked him how much he gave her and he said he didn't know. So you see she didn't just die, she was taken from me.

i had to use some of the same pictures because I didn't have a whole drawer full of them. Instead I tried to use more effects.

@LondonsPlayboy I'm so sorry to hear you went through the same thing I did. It's hard to get over something like this. I too, found another. Her name is Shez Lil Bit Country (Lil Bit) I actually have a video of me riding her. And she is my whole life right now. Don't know what I'd do without her.

I have a peruvian paso mare, i owned her mother too, they were rescues. The mother Odesia passed on Jan 3 and i don't know how i would get along without the filly she left me

what a beautiful girl, I lost my beautiful Hope in december and I feel that she was taken from me aswell. She was turned out in a field with the herd of mares and I believe she was kicked, resulting in her leg breaking. It was devastating and we had to put her to sleep. Your words have stunned me, it's as if I wrote them myself, the similar perspective. I hope that you (too) can rest assured that Hope and Ladybug both were treasured and loved so so so intensely, and still are......

I'm so sorry that's horrible. The vet shouldn't be a vet. She looked like she was only 8 she had such a glossy coat. She will watch over you forever hun <3

this made me cry... if my horse was taken suddenly like that, i have no idea what i would do. but you have to remember, she'll never be truly gone, because she will always be in your heart, and in your head. god belss you and your ladybug.
