Domestic Contracts are NOT the same as marriage, and when a situation calls for notifying the "Next of Kin," and allowing that person to make decisions, a domestic partner is not who is asked. It's egregious, and in thousands of hospital rooms across this country, scenarios just like this one play out every day. Protect human rights. Protect the sanctity of marriage between two loving, consenting adults. Vote NO on Prop 8.

Is a sailboat an ocean liner? Let's stick with the language we've all agreed to use. Words mean things. If you can change a word to make it mean whatever you want, then so can I. For that matter, so can anyone. So someone might decide to change it to mean it's ok to marry their mom. and if "love is love", maybe someone really loves their dog,or sheep. When you leave a door open, there's just no telling who might walk through. Leave words alone. They mean things. Civil unions are cool.

If civil unions are so "cool," then pledge right here and now to give up your right to marry the person you love and enter into a civil union instead. There are a lot of words that have been expanded to include people who were previously discriminated against, such as "free," and "homeowner"...and "Mr. President." Separate but equal is NEVER equal, and using semantics to justify discrimination is beneath us as a free and fair democracy.

Marriage should be a basic HUMAN right which of course gay and lesbian poeple most certainly are. Everyone needs to see this video. If people can watch this and Vote for prop 8 then they are the ones who are sick!!

She couldn't say goodbye to her own mother because someone else decided that she wasn't really her mom. That is just nonsense. There's no other word for it. And you say you are doing this "for the children." That is even more nonsense.

Michelle, I have two gay dads, and I think the point of this video was to show that there are all kinds of things that can happen when gay people and their families are not legally protected/connected. There was a real-life case in Florida a few years ago with a lesbian mom who was denied the right to be at her partner's bedside while she lay dying. Google the Langbehn-Pond family for details.
