hmm, did Gary tell you that? sry, but I'm the ACTUAL builder of all of his skimmers, have been for 3 years, normally we keep it level and externally connected to the sump with a 1 1/2 inch gate valve which is drilled approx. 3 1/2 inches from the bottom... to get more foam you might try adding more of our bio balls in the towers and adjusting the gate valve a bit. We have changed several dimensions since I started there so that could change things a bit too.. -Mike 845 464 6292
