@WarthogDemon I used hints to get the solution of this puzzle. It is required, though it's not required to do it on Day 1 (there are a number of things you can do during the first couple of days).

Regarding Molasses Pie - it is real - look up Shoo Fly Pie. I hadn't had it until just about three months ago. It's one of those things you go "Yuck" till you try it, then its "Yum" Very sweet, as you might imagine. Wiki has it as localized to Pennsylvania Dutch and Southern (US) cooking. The recipe is a litany of everything that is considered to be BAD for you. Molasses, lard, sugar, brown sugar, butter, salt...
