"Government competition" is an oxymoron. Speaking as one who spent 27 years in government I know something about federal government.

We must have a citizen lobby of Congress to overturn, by legislation, the U.S. Supreme Ct.'s decision that, since corporations are "persons" in the law, their "right to freedom of speech" allows them to support these greedy politicians. One definition of Facism (and there are many) is the condition where ruling gov't and corporations are one. What do we have here? Why are we, as citizens, staying quiet about this? Is it too late? Have the greedy and unscrupulous won their prize?

Discrimination is the unlawful and intentional act of unfair treatment of a person based on age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability. It is illegal in the U.S. That is, unless you are young, and we're talking about Medicare. Then discrimination is an American appeal to capitalism. End the discrimination. Give Medicare to all.

The motive of the insurance companies is to make profit, how can you handover the health care system to them?
Public Option is a must.

A solid Public option will serve to check these FOR-PROFIT insurance companies. Otherwise, the insurance companies will negotiate the rates between themselves and comp up with what serves them best and make them the most profit, regardless of whether interstate competition is allowed or not.
What is going to stop the insurance companies from cutting deals behind closed doors on rates, premiums etc? They will settle for a deal that profits all companies.
