Note: If you want this to happen on a keypress or something else (instead of looping), just change the sensor.

Andrew Price's Tutorial on creating a flickering light: http://vimeo.com/9853432

This isn't the best tutorial, but I didn't have time to do more than one take. Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

  • Nice tutorial but it only seems to work if extra steps are taken:

    1. Game engine needs to be set to HLSL mode.

    2. All objects in the scene need to have a material.

    3. Light type needs to be set to Spot Light.

    4. Shadow Type needs to be set to Buffered Shadow.

    5. Viewport Shading mode needs to be set to Textured.

    6. All objects need to have unwraped UVs or at least reset UVs.

That's way too much crap to remember. No wonder most people have a hard time with it.

  • @phnxrzn2007 Great comment! That's all the stuff I had set up before the video. The reason I didn't address these steps in the tutorial is that I meant it more for the general use of adding *any* animation to the BGE. The light example was just to give some idea of how this could be used. But yes, you are absolutely right.

  • yup that was it, im a guy, as well lol

  • @neogoo123 I thought so, but I didn't want to say that and be wrong, haha
