Before filming I covered the canvas in a mix of white oil paint and linseed oil. The painting process took 70 minutes, but you'll see it all in 7 minutes. I used Winsor & Newton, Artisan, oils and a 16" x 12" box canvas. All comments welcome!

  • I love this one. You paint beautifully. May I ask a question about the paints? Are Artisan paints really runny or super thick. Why don't they need thinners and lastly how do you avoid mud mixing? Thanks, keep up the great work!

  • @Barrykee The W&N Artisan paints are just right. Not too runny, not too thick. Maybe about the consistency of toothpaste (for want of a better example!). You can thin Artisan with either water, or linseed oil. I usually use water if it's a quick undercoat, as it'll dry quick, but use linseed oil when I'm making my fake liquid white, or to thin down paint for detail. To avoid making mud only mix two, three at most, colours. Any more and you will get mud. Good luck!

  • could i recommend using a fan brush when you paint the ever green tree. watch bob ross do it and you should have an easier time if you did. just a suggestion you don't really have to d it if you don't want to.

  • @555erasercollector For the life of me, I just can't get the fan brush to work like Bob does. I usually end up using a flat brush rather than the fan (at times).

  • How do you like the artisan oil paints vs. regular oils? Are they just as good?

  • @haha77ish the Artisan paints feel exactly the same as regular oil paints, but are much cleaner since you need no turps!
