I recently read a book on the genocide in Bosnia, written from a mostly Muslim perspective, that had some interesting conclusions as to what prevents genocide. The author argued that, among other things, an armed populace prevents genocide and that no modern genocide has occurred against an armed citizenry. I doubt many anti-genocide movements are much more than 'feel gooders and well wishers'. I guess I'm just too stupid to be "heliping".
