Im surprised no one has mentioned the obvious homage by Tarantino in the film Pulp Fiction, this being with regard to Miserlous close riff, the pulpy, low rent style of the genre and even the vague but definitive poster and overall style and tone similarities that the two vehicles share. Tarantino, as everyone knows was a 60s child of film and TV and pop culture/pulp fiction junkie, so even if the consistencies were subliminal, they ar
deconstruct Peter Gunn, Vic Vega and Tony Tarantino, (Quentins dad, this being a nod to the Shakespearean son, father hate/love/obsession thing that Quentin would invariably have for his absentee, yet swarthy and charismatic dad) you can almost deduce how the Pulp Fiction style and the Vic Vega character were sketched out in Quentins fertile yet derivative style of narrative.
