How to sit when doing Simran
■It's very simple. Don't make it complicated.
■Rule of thumb is that you should be comfortable and should not get tired when sitting for longer period of time.
■You can sit on your bed or on the floor. You can also sit on the chair.
■If you wish to sit on your bed or on the floor, take a pillow or cushion under your hips. This will help you to sit for longer time.
■Keep your back straight but your body loose at the same time. Keep your chest out and chin little bit in.

Fold your hands in prayer and love

■Keep your legs crossed in such a position that you are comfortable.
■You can keep your arms straight and let them rest on the knees. You may also fold your hands in prayer form. If you get tired, switch your position- between folding hands and placing on the knees.
■Some people touch their fingers in meditation mudra. This is not required. You need not do any yogic position. You may not trust me, but this is true. You should not touch your fingers. This will prevent free flow of energy. When you do Simran, let the power flow on its own. Yogic positions direct flow of energy and Simran has its own power which directs power to tenth door on the top of your head. If you do yogic positions, this will conflict with flow of power of Simran and you will get confused and it will put stress on your body. When you are not doing Simran, you can sit in meditation mudra, but don't combine both at the same time.

You don't need this mudra in Simran

■Keep your eyes closed. Simply relax. You need not imagine anything. You need nothing to focus on. You cannot imagine whom you have not seen. You cannot compare God to anything. Just close your eyes and relax at your forehead/between eye-brows. Don't force yourself to concentrate. Simply listen to the Word. (Word is God and God is Word. As Word is sound, you can only listen to it. You cannot touch Word; you cannot smell it; you cannot see it; you cannot taste it either; you can only listen to it. When you listen to it, you will later on feel taste of it, you will feel touch of it and you can also see it pervading everywhere. But you have to start from listening. )
■When you get tired sitting for longer time, change your legs, reposition your arms, take breath and keep going. Don't leave Simran just because you have tired. When you get tired, just continue; this is how you build your stamina.
Don't pay too much attention to how you are sitting. Once you have sat for Simran, forget everything, just chant Waheguru in His Love. You are doing Simran for Waheguru and for Waheguru, your devotion is more important than anything else.
