  • When we were boys during WW2 we used to play in the grounds of Castlemilk house and round the lake. We were always being chased away by the two gamekeepers? whom we called Beardy Joe and Limping Larry. I was probably 5-7 yrs of age at the time. I always heard that Mary Queen of Scots was at Cathcart Castle and watched the battle from the Knoll opposite the Castle.

  • @Norfolkscot - Why thanks Norfolkscot for your very interersting information. I don't have many stories during the WW2 period so it is nice to hear a story outwith the Stuart period and the Housing estate. By 1967 I was about 8 and I was getting chased away from the then 'childrens home', by the Staff... Maybe we were wee scallywags about about 20 odd years apart eh! lol I was always told that Mary Queen of Scots ghost lurked around there... So I never ventured there myself... lol

  • Thank you James, It is a great piece of footage! Thanks for promoting this as I agree that as many people as possible should see it and learn a little bit of the history of Castlemilk, because it is interesting!I take it when you refer to the familiar faces of the past you are not reffering to "The Last Laird of Castlemilk"! Otherwise I could be talking to a ghost myself... lol.

    Cheers James for your comments.

  • I really think this is an excellent piece of work and I've sent out the links for it and the other two vidz in the series to a load of other people so, hopefully. you'll have a lot more comments than mine. It was nice seeing some of the faces from the past in this first video. Its well past my bedtime now so I'll watch the other two in the morning <lol> I hope you have lots more vidz to post - great stuff.

    James
