Like I said, everyone hates that idea.

But the LOST guys did the remake of Star Trek, they do the X-Files ripoff Fringe, they brought the already successful cartoon Transformers to the big screen, they even said that Cloverfield was a US version of a Japanese Godzilla movie so then LOST is their only original idea? I know some think that LOST is a take off of the book The Moon Pool, I can kind of see that possibility as well.

Only 10 more episodes and the big 2 hour finally and well know!

I hope not because that is really lame and makes the writers job too easy. I think jacob controls when and where they time jump too and can move through time himself. He will send them back on the plane w/no memory of events after they beat smokey

A lot of people hate this idea but:

I ultimately believe that LOST is a prequel to Fantasy Island. Whitmore wins control over the island, becomes Mr. Roark, and exploits the island for profit.

On an island that has a "big box that will give you whatever you want" AND can reset time so there are no lasting consequences to your actions, would be the perfect place to live out fantasies.

(also the producers of LOST love doing remakes - and ABC is where Fantasy Island originally aired)

Some physicists think we live in a multiverse (multiple universes) where every decision one faces creates new universes. So in one universe they never crash on the island, in another universe Locke is the doctor, in another universe Kate is pregnant and not Clair, etc. I think this is the source of the whispers - the crash survivors are hearing echoes of themselves. I think the flash sideways is one possible universe.

But you might be right.

Can't wait to find out what the hell is going on.

that would be cool but then what is the flash sideways? Jack has a scar he does not remember etc. I think the sideways flash is after the big battle.
