We have a Music Therapy Program here at Children's where graduates of the Berklee College of Music music therapy program visit patients and sing with them. These music therapists are in high demand, being paged all over the Hospital to help with pain management, positive distraction during procedures, and, in some cases, to give the children another way to interact with people.

In this video, Joanna Bereaud sings with Ashon, a boy, who, at the time, hardly ever spoke. The music encourages him out to sing along and play on his own little guitar.

This program runs on donations and we are thankful to everyone who has made this program possible.

  • Joanne is a wonderful, musician, musical therapist & knows children. She truly cares for them. I have a 6 yr old son who has spent most of his young life in & out of C.H. When I hear the sounds of her guitar, voice, harp, or bells, I run down the hall faster than Red Sox Jacoby Ellsbury can steal 3rd! She makes whatever procedure we r there 4 SO much easier. We put 2-gether a team the last 3 yrs 4 the Nstars walk & raised $20K+. I am a proud mom & grateful 4 this new program. Thank you C.H.

  • @michellepelu69 Wow. $20k! That's awesome. Your support helps us to keep offering programs like this music therapy program. Thank you so much. Next time you dash down the hall, know that you had a part in making that music.

I hope you and your son have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
