thanks to http://music4yourvids.co.uk/ for the music!

This short clip is the second version of the effect I'm working on. The "Priori Incantatem" or "lightning duel" effect as seen in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Movie.
It's not 100% movielook, the Harry Potter movie itself got less particle systems than I do and also the final energy blast looks different.

The System and Rig was created in Autodesk 3ds max using Scripting and Particles.
Composition done in Adobe After Effects CS4.
No Backgourndcomposite or Integration yet.
This clip includes a Rig Demonstration aswell as a shot-breakdown.

if you want the Scene-Files or more detailed informations contact me.

  • I this possible in Maya too??

  • @OMGItsMitchell yes. It's fairly simple in maya compared to max.

  • @vfxworld Ok nice! I'm doing alot with AE now but i want to learn some more professional software like Nuke and Maya. In a couple of years i want to do vfx for feature films! Do you think it is a good choice to learn Nuke and Maya or should i go learn something else like Houdini or so??

  • @OMGItsMitchell doesn't matter. 3D software is all the same packed into a different interface.
