I have seen Male Common Grackles fight every year around this time. This is the first time that I was able to capture it on video. They have been migrating back to New England the past few weeks. The Male Grackles are very aggressive towards each other. (Which is normal behavior for Grackles) They also are very territorial. Seeing animals fight can be upsetting but this is how they set up their territories. If I went outside to shoo them off they could had possibly continued their fight in the next yard which would had made their fight last longer than it did. Who knows if they would had fought longer if I had shooed them off,, If so...could one have hurt the other one?? As you can see they flew off at the end and the stronger Male has established my yard as his territory. I have not seen the Female Grackles yet. They should be migrating back very soon.
