  • I have rarely seen a horse raised by the Amish that was abused in any way; thier horses are their life. Most of the Amish horses I've ever seen have always been in great health physically and emotionally. I am sure there are some horses raised by some Amish that are not up to par but that's not something that is exclusive to the Amish community.

  • @foundationdressage I am sorry to hear that you are just another wannabe know it all and tell people Amish are cruel to animals, there are thousands of Amish that own animals and a small percent may be cruel, BUT that is not because they are Amish, there are people of every culture that do not live a perfect live, and for the animals being abused in this world Amish by far the not to blame.... So back off

  • Ok duckppl..you maybe right allot of their horses go above meat, but check out AC4H Broker Owned pages ..most of the horses on there are from Amish homes prior to going to NEW HOLLAND Auction, and many of them end up in Kill Pens or BROKERS that upsell to Killers going north to Canada..then there is CAMELOT in NJ, and many others that the Amish frequent with their low end stock..

  • @foundationdressage The Amish are not the only one bringing their horses to the auction. Generally the horses that the Amish bring are the ones going for VERY high prices. they use horses for everything therefore they are very well trained. Since their horses are so trained and pricey the meat buyers don't even bother since they would have no profit at all! (anything over $250 really doesn't have much use to meat buyers for lack of profit..)I just went to an auction, 240+ horses all found homes!

  • answer to sweetsue..NOTHING..the Amish don't care...horses and all animals are there for human USE....per their "belief"...they are some of the worst perpetrators of cruelty these days to horses...and all animals.

  • What do they do to stop the meat buyers from getting their hands on these beautiflu animals?
