Written and produced by Michael Z. Gordon along with his co-writer, Jimmy Griffin, this was just one of six artists that recorded this song including Bobby Vee, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Bryan Hyland, and Michael J. James.

  • The only other version I've heard of Get The Message was by Brain Hyland, and it comes very close to sounding like a Bread song.Even Brian's vocals sound alot like James Griffin's.So I assume that this song is a pre-Bread James Griffin song, that James wrote in the 60's of many others like this, that he wrote, that were way before Bread entered the picture, but were in a similar style to Bread.

  • @newwavepopman Jimmy didn't actually write this song but he got credit because he did such an amazing job in the studio when we recorded the demo. He sang all the voices and played all of the instrumental parts and in many of the artists copied his arrangement note for note.

  • @newwavepopman Your are right, Jimmy had a huge influence on the recording artists who did our songs and I can honestly say many of our songs might not have been recorded by so many artists if it weren't for Jimmy's talent in the studio. We wrote over 60 songs during the two years that we were together, got a BMI Award for Apologize, and then Jimmy went on to join Bread and I began producing movies.

  • I tweeted this if you don't mind @Summit_Mowers maybe it will go viral...

  • @TheRemoteMower Thanks!!

  • @michaelzstuff Can you Upload Brian Hyland Verison? :) Love to hear it!

  • I believe that this is the same Jimmy Griffin who later went on to join the soft pop group Bread, along with David Gates. The Brian Hyland version of this song,he even tries very hard to sound like James Griffin. In Jimmy's early career he went under Jimmy Griffin. It wasn't until Bread that he changed his name, and went under James Griffin.

  • any idea who these guys are?
