Edited by Renato Sommexe, in this video recorded at frankfurt 1986 we have the chance to see Alan, Gary Husband on drums, Jimmy Johnson on Bass and the amazing extraordinary Key akagi on keys at the time using the best keyboards available, yamaha CP80 for pianos and Yamaha DX7 for synth sounds, sometimes stealing the scene showing a tremendous intimacy with alan's complicated compositions, some of them not featuring keyboads in the original recording, in others replacing the also magnificent Alan Pasqua a long term partner in alan's career. Key akagi also can be seen here at youtube on Miles Davis tour in a Kitaro Look due to the long hair. Also alike is his presence in one of Dimeola's 80's shows and you can hear his improvisations along with tavaglione's wind controller synth solos in gambale's alive album which I long to see one day in video also, if someone has it please get in touch, let's share.

  • Genuine respect to you too man but eventhough i'm one of Allan's biggest fans, i don't see how he can be better than say, Tom Morello;he's doing sthg else and that's it.Madonna ain't better than Allan because she sold millions of records but she can't be crap for that same reason either and i don't get why Clapton or EVH words would weight more than others:I ain't no pro footballer but i can claim Zidane behave like an asshole when he gave Materazzi the headbutt (whatever he said to him) Peace.

  • @frfunk1 if everyone has an opinion, how can a "best musician" even exist? everyone would have to agree on someone, which is impossible... I'm a musician too and i've been listening to Allan's music for almost 20 years but i don't understand your " music is the only profession where the best are the least known/ least paid " it doesn't make any sense sorry :(

  • Now we're talking... The mix is garbage, but the guitar is back... I curse the guys that invented the damn synthaxe. Could you imagine SAND played on Guitar? I don't know why he doesn't go out and play the good tunes like Sand, Good Clean FIlth, Wish, Night Illusion, Shadows Of, Checking Out, Shallow Sea, Three Sheets, Nevermore, Mental Medication - now that'd be a challenge for him 'live'...

  • Whoa, is that Chic Korean on keys?

  • i think everyone is kinda missing the point here, what differentiates these guys from madonna or coldplay or what ever bullshit is being commercialized atm, is that holdsworth and husband and the others guys in the group are better musicians than these pop musicians could ever be even if they spent two lifetimes trying. that doesnt mean madonnas tunes are worse or better than allans. thats just preference, but allans soloing is beyond anything john mayer can begin to do, hes a better musician

  • This is weird -subbing guitar for vocal parts. Sounded better when he was playing chords.

  • He plays a few notes, and you already know : this is a great player, a great musician. Hat off, allan !

  • @Fjord76

Nah he deserved that headbutt end of.

  • @metamorphosis67 I like Dave Brubeck alot,I mean 'Take Five' is one of my all time favorites.I dont care for Yes. I like Coltran and Bird. I know holdsworth is like 1 of the top guitarist probably of all time without a doubt ,just something about his style kinda gets old . I can listen to him for a little bit but then it gets old.

  • @valkour22 To each his own. I admit Holdsworth & Zappa & Stravinsky & people like that are an acquired. taste. You can't just go straight from popular music like the Beatles or the Bee Gees to Holdsworth, first you might have to listen to prog-rock bands like Yes or Genesis, then some jazz like Miles Davis or Dave Brubeck, then you'll be ready. At least that's the route most take. Holdsworth played in prog bands like Soft Machine, Gong & UK in the 70s in addition to fusion with Tony Williams.

  • @metamorphosis67 Music was 1st produced for the sound and the way it made us feel, not for technical difficulties. When u lose that it begins to sound like a endless progression of notes trying to resolve.

  • @valkour22 No way is just a 3 chord progression by itself brain food unless Brian Eno performs it on Music for Airports ! It's the genius who makes the brain food for other initiated brains to feed on, it's the lesser neanderthal who makes pizza & hamburgers, filling & tasty but not really healthy. That's ok, the Eddie Van Halen cheeseburgers serve a function just as much as the Holdsworth or Zappa surrealistic gourmet does at different stages of a person's self-discovery through art-ifice..
