Dude - Classical players were tapping in the 1800's. It's nothing new. It's a trick to play a single string arpegio. Generally it's three notes to a chord and three notes to a tap. The same notes of the chords are the ones your tap. I know there are exceptions but that's chords & tapping at their most basic, Rick had tapping covered way before EVH. EVH moved it forward but he didn't invent it.

@cbgou812 Rick ( showed the formula) recorded You really got me with a guitar solo introduction,Before Van Halen was formed...You would be correct say Rick REALLY helpd launch Van Halen. He covered the cover in one of Rick's styles. I would give credit to the producer .Ed is a great player but it seems he has selective memory. Hope to hear great new album from him soon!

@jwhiteho223 do you remember when Rick opened for Van Halen and they kicked him off the tour for being a rip-off? Just read Everybody Wants Some The Van Halen Saga. Turn to page 56. lol
