"I was just going to run a quick errand, on my way to work... I could not believe my eyes when I saw a little, scruffy puppy at the bottom of a stairwell that led to a parking garage. I was in such a hurry to get to work that I had to ask a stranger to stay with him, while I called a friend to come and pick him up. He was so scared and in so much pain, he was growling at everybody who stopped to tr...y to help him. My friend was finally able to get him and quickly realized that he was injured. I took him to the vet when I returned from work. X-rays confirmed that little Griffin had two broken hips and would have to have extensive surgeries to fix his injuries.

Brave little Griffin made it through his surgeries. The vet found even more fractures when he went in. Griffin had damage to his growth plate in one leg, as well as multiple fractures. He had to have a plate and several pins put in. He will have to stay at the hospital for at least one week and will require three months of physical therapy. Best case scenario is that his hip and growth plate will heal and grow normally, and he will have full function of all four legs. Worst case scenario is that one leg will not grow properly and he will not be able to use it. We are hoping for a full recovery, but if little Griffin cannot use one leg, he will still go on to lead a happy life.

The saddest part is that he has no road rash on him and the vet thinks that is highly unlikely that he was hit by a car, but probably more likely that a human did this to him." - Sandra H.
