While the global movement has achieved much progress in reducing the incidence of child labour, efforts must be stepped up if we are to deliver the commitment of a world free of the worst forms of child labour by 2016. In order to meet that challenge, the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, in close collaboration with the ILO (and in cooperation with UNICEF and the World Bank), is organizing a global conference on child labour to be held in The Hague (The Netherlands) on 10 and 11 May 2010. This is such a complex issue. But unless the regions and countries that sponsor and enable this to happen develop themselves then things will not change. Leaders have crucial role to play here. As long as the majority of a country's population are living below a specific level and are focused on how to find something to eat tomorrow or next week then this problem will exist.
