If einstine`s theory is to be belived that if a ship left earth and took two years on the ships clock to get to the nearest star, many thousands of years would have passed on earth. So if the aliens had time travel between planets and galaxys then in reality no time would have passed at all, simply travel back to point zero. I`m no science person only what i`ve read so i hope this explanation makes sense. I don`t think having super speed is not their only option of travel.
