The collapse of Nasserism as a uniting force and the inability to regain the territories lost in wars with Israel led to the questioning of the secular ideologies that have dominated regional politics since WWII.

  • Take your nationalistic pride and go to to hell, idiot. Shouldn't you grieve @ the fact that your fellow Arab Muslim brothers are suffering in Iraq, while like an idiot you're boasting about how great Libya is.

Pathetic, It is because of people like you that Arabs are so weak. Still stuck in pathetic nationalism and tribalism of jahliya...

  • i call for arab unity weather ur syrian, iraqi, lebanese, egyptian,or anything

The Rashiduns were not democratic they where more in line with Thomas Hobbes "leviathan" or Plato's philosopher king, which in truth is a autocratic non-hereditary constitutional monarchy much in line with what Rome had prior to 508 BC, Where the monarch is entrusted to keep the agreed social contract made with the electorate (people) upon his inauguration, Serving for life unless he violated or fails to furfill his oaths ,thus being compelled to resign or be lawfully overthrow.

With all due respect as a Greek, "Greeks didn't event democracy" in the most basic sense your correct but prior to Athens it was never done in anything beyond small communal tribes, Your very short sighted to quickly dismiss the Periclean state, Which was a direct democracy where the body citizens themselves partook in the decision making process unlike our present "representative system", Unlike the Roman republic they held contempt for gentry & hereditary privilege in government.

  • Even if we never- unite as one nation. I love being an Araby. Its in my blood, my heart, my mind, my soul. I love our customs and our language. I believe that as long as we are united in spirit, in principles, and way of life.........we can't be separated no matter where we are. No matter who the rulers are. They want money and power over dirt. Let them have the dirt. As long as we are dedicated to our creator and love one another..we are,and always will be ONE/WA7HID!

    Salam/peace

  • islam would unite the arabs only under arab caliphate not fuckin turkish. the prophet sayed that the caliph must be from mecca and from quraish orgins thats the only way arabs and muslims would succeed not by persian or turkish caliph

  • @pharaonicvs nobody care if egypt not arab who are u speaking for? most egyptians here in the states do not deny thier identity thats just the fact

  • why you insult us? we did nothing to you ... i am from Saudi Arabia ...and we study how the turks defeated the romes and what they did to islam we actually love the turks

  • True...it is false to claim that Greeks invented democracy. For starters, before the sedentary settlement of Man 13,000 years ago, all tribal societies were democratic. Second of all, the Athenian Greeks' idea of democracy excluded anyone that wasn't an Athenian adult male that completed military training and so it was more of an apartheid than a democracy. The first instance in history of an inclusive democracy for all was during the Rashidun caliphate.

  • Yes democracy is the solution. But the original Rashidun caliphate was based on the principle of democracy whereby the Ummah would elect their leader on the basis of aptitude. Afterwards, the Ummayads usurped the caliphate on the grounds that they were Quraish and therefore the rightful leaders of the Ummah, basically 3asabiyah. All subsequent "caliphates" did the same and that last true Caliph was Ali not Abdel Hakim of the Ottomans, his was a monarchic empire not a caliphate.

  • @MrBilbol the rashidun caliphat invented what is now called democracy not any other country peace
