    Absolutely.

Yes, the Blue-Ringed Octopus is small, but don't let that fool you - They have the capacity to inflict fatal injury on anyone stupid enough to mess about with them.

However, since the child was only observing the animal, and since the father was clearly knowledgeable on the subject - I don't think any harm could have happened whatsoever.

Teach kids to be wary and careful - Not fearful! There are few things in nature as beautiful and strange as the Octopus!

  • @kittywittykat Not this guy. He's up there with the award for parent of the year. As I've said before, hazard identified, explained, and warned against - GOOD parenting. You can't shelter your kids from life and expect them to be well adjusted.

  • @jasmmmm Damn straight. Anyone messes with us, we'll get some funnel webs on their asses :P.

  • @jasmmmm ummmm no you have bears wolves and tons more dangerous animals than australia

  • O.M.G are you thick.... that will kill you in mins? why would you let ur kid go that close!

  • Why is every one so scared of australia! Really i could go out sleep in the bust for a year and the worst that would happen is mosquito bites. Go to africa and get killed in one night by a lion, or asie, a tiger. Realy people man the fuck up, australia isnt dangerous and you hardly see these animals anyway. I like reptiles so i go out looking for snakes, but guess what, ive only seen one this year and its not even dangerous. So really everyone please dont be scared of australia.

  • This is why Australia scares the fuck out of me...

  • @RasecVonWizzlbang dam...thnx for letting me kno...

  • @robbbyyy25

They have an extremely venomous bite, it can paralyze your breathing and stop your heart in a few minutes. There's no antivenom either, so the only thing they can do is rush you to the hospital and try to keep you alive until the poison wears off.

  • how does this kill someone?

  • dayummmm hes a fast little guy

  • @talbot5445 After working there for 5 years, I can safely say, "Yes." I'm working class, and proud of it, "boy". I feel deeply sorry for the assorted fauna of Mosman and Balmoral Beach. Okey-dokey?
