Protest at Judge Sharon "Killer" Keller's office TX CCA

Today, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals stayed open late accepting letters from the public urging Judge Sharon Keller to resign. On Sept 25, Keller closed the court sharply at 5, saying "We close at five", but today the court stayed open for business accepting letters urging Keller to resign. This shows how arbitrary the decision was on Sept 25 to close exactly at five. The court stayed open an extra three minutes today with no problem, they could have easily stayed open an extra 20 minutes on Sept 25 to accept an appeal from a man set for execution at 6 pm that day.

Finally, a few minutes after 5, the clerks stopped accepting letters, left the area and turned off the lights. We asked them to stay open an extra twenty minutes so that everyone could turn in their letter, but they refused. Yet they had already broken the "Keller Rule" by staying open three minutes beyond 5. People who had not yet had a chance to turn in their letters to the clerks left them lying on the counter.

Michael Richard's sister, Patricia Miller, spoke to the group outside the court after the delivery of the letters and judicial complaint.

Sharon Keller did the right thing. She is now a hero to many, and rightfully so. Justice was served. I hope she gets a book deal worth millions from all of this publicity.

Maybe she was wrong. The real point is, the guy that was executed killed someone and was on death row for 20 years. the guy shouldnt have been there for that long. they should put a law down for a max of 5 years so tehy can stop waisting money on people who dont deserve it

Michael Richard murdered people. His own family says yeah, what he did was wrong, but hey, apologizing would not make me feel better if it was my family he murdered. The case was about whether lethal injection was an acceptable manner of death, and it subsequently was ruled it was acceptable, so the outcome would not have changed, just prolonged it. Sharon Keller did not kill someone--Michael Richard did. I find it strange that people want admitted murderers to live.

I'm always sad to see so much support for state-sanctioned murder, i.e. executing unarmed people. Shame on Sharon Keller for murdering a human being. It's cruel, vindictive, and uncivilized to strap a man down and murder him. It's barbaric to create special viewing rooms so that the family can watch their relatives suffer. An eye for an eye is revenge; it is evil. It does not reverse or diminish the evil of murder to add more evil with another murder.
