Our founding fathers created a government with limited powers, after the Union won the Civil War, they became, "Big Government". Even to this day they are "Big Government". This is why more and more protests and occupy that city and occupy that city. In reality, North and South lost in the long run.

Interventionist, imperialistic, jingoistic, centralised, disregarding of the will of the people, disdainful of self-determination, blindly loyal to the state and willing to sacrifice liberty for security. Jefferson once said that the greatest form of patriotism is dissent, yet today such people of ridiculed and marginalised in American society, it is a sad thing to see.
