You people are imbeciles; clearly when he says "left" and "right," he's referring not to his hands, but the location of the percussion he's striking (the hi hats are on his left). This is the more formal technique, mostly lost in translation during the polynesian percussion renaissance of the 1500s. But a truly masterful master like Jens would obviously be well-versed in this "unconventional" phrasing.
