@OshawaStateOfMind There's a Science slider, and a Luxury slider. Raising the science slider diverts more of your tax and other income into Science, and raising the Luxury slider diverts more income into 'luxury', which makes people happy. On the higher levels, diverting money in this way is almost necessary to keep cities from rioting.

@keepthebeat929 Ah, yes, of course, I forgot about that possibility. When I played the map myself as Rome, I immediately lost 2 cities as well to culture flipping.

@UnitRico Good observation, but it was probably due to cultural influence that they "overthrew their oppressors". When other civs are at war you'll get a quick message from your diplomatic advisor about it.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this yet, but the Greeks and Romans probably are (or were) fighting as well, as the Greeks now have Veii, a Roman city.
