There was a movie filmed here. "Gold Diggers The Secret of Bear Mountain" with Christina Ricci. I recognize some of the buildings in this.

Yes that's right, also the Movie "House Keeping" and Steve Martin's movie "Roxanne" were both filmed here.

I can tell ya, it SURE doesn't look like that now! The CPR Station has been boarded up for at least 10 years, though there is talk of resurrecting it again. The CPR glass house/maintenence building has been torn down. The Kerr Apartments burned down, the Redfish Grille (one of the buildings on Baker) burned over 2 years ago and nothing has been done to it. The building is just an empty shell. The city is losing the charm that it once had, that's for sure.

@salmonella0pickles Thats pretty neat. That was a while ago now maybe 15 years. That would have been cool to see that. I loved that movie as a kid but then I had the crush on Anna Chlumsky but I also loved Christina in Casper and now she is my Fav actress to date. anyway thanks for the reply:)

@braneden I watched them film part of Gold Diggers - the scene where Christina Ricci was riding her bike on Baker St. and stopped to see Anna Chlumsky in a fight...They had the whole street blocked off and there were tons of people just watching the filming. Another scene, where she is waiting for Jody (Anna Chlumsky) to meet her on the street but never shows was filmed outside my elementary school which I went to the very next year. I remember sitting right where Ricci sat...

I lived here from 1976 to 1979. Great place. I plan to retire here & Fly fish & hike my days away. Cheers.

I was in Nelson for Christmas (1999)...and have longed to go back ever since. This is a neat video to watch. Thanks for posting it. :)
