  • @JustSamantha15 its not that late of a start. there is a girl in my dance class who go her first pair of pointe shoes when she was about 18. and another one got the when she was 20!

  • gah... i really want to take ballet, (Im 14) and it would be so fun even though i will, for sure, never ever get on pointe. I have collapsing arches, 4 bunions, and 2 hammertoes. :(

  • @jenni32874- Therabands are a good way to strengthen the ankles, so it's good to be doing that. However, pointe shoes aren't -really- a method of excercise, so even if you do the slightest thing wrong it will hinder rather than help you. If you don't hurt your ankles, then you could hurt your toes or your knees or your hips, etc. etc... Best not to touch them unless you want to start dance classes (again?).

  • @countrycat95 Even if you know what your doing, sometimes teachers will notice problems we don't notice.. But, what I would do is try filming just your feet while you practice. So you can watch over again and see what you are doing wrong. And try googling "Mistakes made in pointe shoes" And stuff like that, so you can see what some common mistakes are.

  • @jenni32874 This wont really strengthen your ankles. You just need strong ankles to do it. There are other excersices that will strengthen your ankles. And you could be doing it wrong without a teacher. Even if your just trying to build strength, you may not do it right, which can cause injury.
