current progress of my Enterprise D model from Star Trek, surfacing is in progress, going for a little more metallic sheen look right now than the flat grey, well see how it comes out on the whole vessel

  • Nice work!

Come see my TOS Enterprise, I'm building from the inside out, in Virtual Reality Modeling Language.

    It's life-size, with sound, etc.

Why not build the inside of your model?

    Cheers

  • Nice work!! Very cool. Actually I was planning on doing the inside of this as well, and have been doing the outside hull to make sure it will consistently match the floors and rooms inside later. I'll be doing mine in Lightwave, but I presume with VRML you can actually have a user roam around in the vessel? I'll have to see if Lightwave can export VRML

  • Will you be able to create little 6ft Humans and put them on the hull to show the massive scale of the ship. There is another video on youtube where the creator did just that but with the TOS Enterprise.

  • Yeah I sure will, the finished models will have rooms visible through the windows as well, I'd like to render some stills with workers on the outside though to help give that appreciation of scale.

  • Holly shit!!

This is one of the most beatifull modelling jobs that I ever seen!

are you planning to do the Future version of her (03 naceles) too?

    Kinddest regards,

    Cassio

  • Hi, thanks! I'm deviating a bit from the dull gray of the show so I appreciate the 2nd opinion, I think it's coming out good. I'll probably do the futuristic version as well, since it would be easy to make once this is all done.

  • News about her? :)

  • I'll have to take a look at Lightwave. Good planning about the outside! And thanks for your encouragement. VRML means roam around the ship, ya. It never gets old. And you don't want VRML now, you want X3D (that's VRML 3). Since VRML means real-time interaction using ECMAScript (JavaScript) I can actually fly the shuttlecraft (that I'm halfway thru building) in and out of the hangarbay!
