Redoing STS-61A using Orbiter and STS payloads (free software).

STS-61-A was the 22nd Space Shuttle mission. It was a scientific Spacelab mission booked by Germany - hence the payload name D-1 (for Deutschland 1). It was also the last successful mission of the Space Shuttle Challenger. STS-61-A holds the record for the largest crew, eight people, aboard any single spacecraft for the entire period from launch to landing.

Among the crew members was the dutch mission specialist Wubbo J. Ockels (ESA).

  • Where did you get the mesh for the spacelab?

  • @supertrex2 What are you talking about? What 20 years? USA was 1 month (if we count A. Shepard`s suborbital flight in may 1961), or 10 months behind (J.Glenn`s Feb 1962 flight).

  • great video

  • Very nice video ^^

  • Very nice! thiswas the first and the last time a dutch astronaut was launched with a Space Shuttle

  • Still cant believe the Russians invented their rockets that can send humans in space 20 yrs before the US.

  • This was the very last time that "Challenger" would have a safe and successful flight. Less than three months, the orbiter would be destroyed during the start of STS-51L. :(

  • yep:) cool!!
