Mama Cass, an 18" long koi carp sure likes her sweetcorn. She'll use those rubber lips to suck corn right out of your hand, making sucking noises as she gobbles it down.
Hey I like the video. I am thinking about putting in a koi pond. Do you have any idea how much a small koi pond would cost if I put it in myself? Thanks
Hey there - thank you for the comment on my video.
I love ponds - I am in the process of building a second pond, along side my 1400 gal.
You can spend as much as you like -you can also do it on the cheap.
i)- the most expensive part is usually the liner - get the good stuff - you won't get leaks then. I use 45 mil EPDM (I think those are the right initials - but don't use PVC.) It costs about US$1 per sq. foot. You can buy it from Atlanta Water Gardens or Pike's Nursery.
ii) Liner - you need something underneath the rubber to keep roots and sharp stones away. You can buy felt - but I used old carpet that I found on the side of the street - who cares what it smells like!
iii) filter and pump: These will depend upon the specifics of the pond. - I'm happy to provide guidance if you would like.
I'm going to email you directly a link to my photo album that covers pond construction. Jason
