Since enforcement is now really more on US Gov.'s radar. Anyone who dares to get amplifiers strong enough to transmit far away, and anyone who dares to do a show that would last for more than 5 minutes time, would risk being heavily fined and/ or imprisioned. Only those who get a Business License for long distance can now Legally transmit using such strong far reaching transmitters/equipment. So the days of those Underground Radio Shows and long distance home CB FREEDOM is OVER in the US!

Chris, in the old days, 1970s-80s, People in USA had what was called "Underground Radio Shows" and broadcast far away from their personal radio transmitters. There were rules on paper and licenses were required but there was little to no regard for either by CBers or those supposed to enforce such laws back then. The US Gov. is now scared of we citiznes having such freedom to communicate to places far away, or vice-versa, so they changed restricting transmitting power for home use to local!
