Video showing you how I parallax my maps using my own parallax tilesets. Took me an hour and 15 minutes to complete. Lotsa copying & pasting going on, as well as some very slight edits to make everything fit. This was done using my tavern tileset to create a nice tavern.

If it was used as an actual map and not just a sample, I would have added some dramatic lighting, to get a cozy atmosphere.

The final result can be found here: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y195/BabyPinkFireFly/celianna_taverntiles_sc...

  • I'll stick with the RM mapping..... XD

But one question. When using the animated parallax script, can you make a short video play in the background? Say, if you wanted to use a cutscene made outside of rmvx, could you play that cutscene with the animated parallax?

  • @macandfriends Unless you're going to divide the video into frames and - uhh short answer, no.

  • @ILoveMyMatty hmm..... I do have plenty of free time for some frame making.... maybe not that much XD

    Thanks

  • @macandfriends There are scripts out there that let you play videos in VX you know.

  • WOW.

But wait. In the finished product, how do you get the characters to pass under the beams and lamps?

  • IPS driver to site is not found! The site's been down forever! D= Need a new site =S

  • i absolotely love these vids how it goes from flat to 3d looking ^_^ perspective is a cool thing

  • This is amazingly beautiful.

  • @MeepullStewray That's exactly what I was thinking.

  • @mfbuxton You can copy the elements that you want to be displayed above the character, paste them into new image (the same size as the parallax) and make the rest transparent. Then just just use a common event (or a script) to display the image on the map. This way when the player walks through the beams, the image will cover that and make it look as if he went under them (when in reality he just walked over them on the parallax)
