SID Kenya team, summer 2009 -- a look at the construction of a medical laboratory at Inyali Dispensary, in rural North Maragoli, Western Province, Kenya.

** Special thank-you to Students for World Literacy (at UofT Scarborough) and to Prof. Catherine Chalin. Without their support, this project really would not have been possible.

Students for International Development is a student-run non-profit organization, and 100% of all donations go towards project implementation. This project, spear-headed by 2009 Health Sector Leader Tricia Kennedy and SID President Michael Beeler, was one of fifteen initiatives coordinated by the team -- with projects centered around Agriculture, Education, Gender, Health, and Microfinance. Teams depart from Toronto, Canada every summer, and more initiatives are currently underway.

  • I should really mention that special thank-yous go to Students for World Literacy at UofT Scarborough, and to Professor Catherine Chalin. We were absolutely inspired by their passion and generosity, and without their support, this project truly would not have been possible. Na kupenda sana.

I also neglected to mention, even in my speech at the launch, that credit is due to a few friends on the ground that helped throughout this process -- thank you Luke, Emmanuel, Tobias, and Mr. Muangala.
