@jr7rockets The Tyson Chandler effect is overated. Dallas still has good defence this year while New York's hasn't gotten any better. 1 person doesn't define a team's defense. What good is a block for guys like Dwight Howard and Ibaka if the ball just goes out of bounds? Ibaka is not more skilled by the way. If anyone is left that wide open like he is 15 feet from the basket, they'd make jumpshots to. This is the NBA, every player can hit a 10-15 foot jumper when they're wide open..

@r0binzero also dwight has little to no skill. he's getting better. But still if you take away his super athleticism he would be trash. He shoots around 50% from the free throw line. Barley just now starting to get a 5-10 post hook. Not great foot work in the post. Only great move he has in the post is the spin and dunk over you get him 15 feet from the basket the whole game and he wouldn't do shit. Same for Mcgee. They're great rebound/dunkers/shot blockers thats it. Ibaka is more skilled.

@r0binzero The only guys on that list that actually played on great defensive teams were Ben wallace(the piston 5 ) hakeem(had 7 foot PF ralph sampson in the line up him they were the twin towers) I'll give you camby he's skilled solid player & played on alot of teams. But the others if you take them of their teams the teams would easily give up 110+ points a game take dwight off the magic they have no D. A 7 footer covers up a lot of mistakes defensively. Tyson chandler did it on all his teams

@jr7rockets I took you're 2 cents short pal. Dwight Howard has 3 DPOY awards and thats all thanks to his athleticism. Javale McGee and Serge Ibaka same thing. Back in the old days was when people didn't rely on athleticism as much. Ron Artest, Ben Wallace, Theo Ratliff, Marcus Camby, Dikimbe, Hakeem, list goes on.. Guys like LeBron and Wade get their blocks purely on their athleticism. Only reason they go to school is to increase their draft stock when the draft comes along.

@jibbers0 I agree i actually like what the NBA has turned into. Teams that can't play D get exposed. You can't just throw a couple 7 footers in the paint and lock down like the old days. Now days you have to be skilled and fundamentally sound. Not just be able to jump and run. The fact that more guys are staying in school and going over seas is a plus too. Learn the game, develope skill dont rely completely on athleticism. Like Sheed was a very skilled player with a mean jumper and post game.
