Friday, 12.25am - BNP candidate David Owens has been voted on to Boston Borough Council.
He becomes the first British National Party candidate to ever be voted on to a council in Lincolnshire.

Mr Owens swept to victory in the Fenside Ward, picking up 279 votes, with second-placed Boston Bypass Independent Carl Smith winning 141.

The announcement was made as the candidates gathered at St Christopher's Church Centre.

Mr Owens told The Standard: "We are extremely pleased to be elected; I am extremely pleased.
"This is a first in Lincolnshire for the BNP."

Mr Owens said he hoped what had happened in Boston could eventually be felt in Parliament.

When asked about the BNP's image, Mr Owens was keen to stress that many people had been 'hoodwinked' into thinking it was a 'racist party'.

He added: "We are not a racist party we are passionate about our country."

When questioned about immigration he said: "I think the people of Fenside and the people of Boston have said tonight that immigration is at capacity here."

He also went on to describe how some foreign nationals working in Boston were living in conditions akin to 'a third world republic'. And he said he wanted better working and living conditions for all.

He also promised the people of Boston the BNP was not a 'one trick pony' and would fight on many issues.

Boston Borough Council leader Richard Austin was a man of few words on election night. After the result all he would say was: "I think this will have serious implications for Boston and I want to reflect on the implications on this result."

Voters went to the polls following the resignation of disgraced drink-drive former councillor Guy Curley.

Mr Curley, who was a Boston Borough Council cabinet member for the ruling Boston Bypass Independents, quit his seat after being convicted for drink-driving.

  • Excellent result for the BNP. VOTE BNP!!!

  • I go to Boston quite often, it's nice to know they're now in 'charge' of the area.. Those who go to boston will know how full it is.. In a 100% non-racist way, it's amazing to hear an English speaking person about.. Even a lot of the store workers speak Eastern (Polish etc) and nothing more..

  • WELL DONE DAVID

  • I had a lovely day out in Boston and visited the MAUD FOSTER WINDMILL recently...I was very suprised at how many people were from eastern EU....I`m glad I purchased 2KG of oats from the mill...I like to BUY BRITISH.... :-) It was nice to walk around Boston and feel safe...No junkies and not chavs on my day there...I think the BNP must be doing something right down there...Well done BNP for making a visitor feel safer..

  • I gi to Boston a lot and its full of fuckin inbreds just like most of south holland. If you ask me it should benefit with some extra genes thrown into the ever decreasing gene pool. Not suprised they voted BNP back then.

  • Fuck the BNP, just like the left, the right is weakened by division (and a bunch of you lot who claim to 'love your country' but can't even write the Queen's English (bitch that she is)) Boston is where I grew up, in a time when there was 0.01% non-white British, I'm glad it's changed and has more life about it with the arrival of immigrants. Nationality + race-abstract notions. The BNP will get a few more votes this year but that only helps draw attention to the anarchist kicking they'll get.

  • Woah...I'd rather see a nice "Paki cunt" than someone like you in Boston anyday.
