The last of the three. I accept that any system can never be better than its players, but 4th Ed D&D has not been created with role-playing in mind, but instead merely a game of trawling through a 5-foot square grid maze and killing things.

  • Hey, whats your opinion on Pathfinder?

  • @Bulletmouth Not played it, but by all accounts it is very similar to 3.5. 3.5 is not as bad as I feared it would be.

  • Any thoughts about Warhammer?

  • @Fablezzz Not an elegant system, but The Enemy Within campaign is good. I haven't tried the latest incarnation of Warhammer.

  • @sniboboof He obviously understands what hitpoints are. What's in question here is whether they make any sense or not (which they don't, at all), or are constructive to roleplaying (which they're not).

Personally, I never understood why anyone would want to use a system like D&D. Classes, huge amounts of HP, rigid skill systems, etc belong in videogames. I’d recommend World of Darkness or, if you’re set on something tailored for fantasy, Riddle of Steel.

  • They're making a fifth edition, friend. They're calling it "D&D Next."

Run. Just run away now. Maybe pick up The Riddle of Steel.

  • If you don't understand what hit points are, then you obviously aren't going to understand what healing surges are.

  • Yeah. It's pretty much 3.5, with some minor tweaks to the gameplay. A lot of it is buffs to certain classes etc.

Do you know of any other good, recent release PnP games?

  • To zap or not to zap....

    from this, apparently; no.

  • Step 1: Take out the rules you don't like.

    Step 2: ????

    Step 3: Profit

Rinse and Repeat with every edition of every game and nothing will ever matter to you anymore.

  • @donlemley66 Actually, D&D sucks total ass. Independently of which edition you play.

  • @donlemley66 I'm sorry, who's the dumbass? The man making an intelligent video on a project/criticism, or the one telling how stupid said man is over YouTube in all caps?
