達賴喇嘛今次來澳，用組織方的話說"出於安全考慮"，媒體見面會時間曾在短短一天內連續3次改動，並向媒體提出嚴格要求，如"遲到免入"、禁止在某些地段泊車，以及不可多­次進出會場等。現場除有多名聯邦警員要求媒體分批排隊魚貫而入外，亦無一例外接受警犬嗅聞檢查及開包查驗。會場外警車、騎馬警員、騎自行車警員和步行警員四處可見。約逾5­0名各大小媒體記者核對身份後，早上8點左右按攝像、攝影及電台順序依次入場。而達賴連續5天有關"禪定修習"的演講現場被約2米高鐵柵欄圍住，聽眾均須接受金屬探測器測­試及開包檢查後方可入內。達賴並非首次來澳洲，但這次的保安規格空前嚴格，記者上次看見那樣的鐵柵欄，還是在去年的亞太經合組織（APEC）首腦峰會期間。　　
"雄天宗"場外抗議
　　數十名佛教異見組織"雄天宗"僧侶及僧尼一如首日，在會場外馬路對面拉起標語，高喊"達賴喇嘛停止謊言"等口號。上午9點多鐘的奧林匹克公園已有不少人遊人及晨練者，但多­數似乎並不知道達賴喇嘛抵澳所為何事。來自中國大陸的David向記者表示，達賴周遊多國"動機不純"，被問及西藏主權歸屬時，他斬釘截鐵表示無論從歷史還是現狀而言，"­西藏都是中國的一部分"。對於奧運火炬受衝擊和達賴呼籲"支持奧運"一說，他稱達賴是"自己打自己嘴巴"；來自台灣的楊先生表示不太方便接受採訪，但指出"一千多年歷史以­來，西藏一直是中國的一部分"；來自布里斯本的西人Chris夫婦自稱不瞭解西藏情況，但對中國奧運表示祝賀，並譴責之前發生的多起衝擊火炬事件。　　　　　達賴喇嘛的"講經"行程為期5天，每張門券收費800澳元。 澳洲新快报记者报道

It should be made clear that Shugen worship itself violates religious freedom, because Shugden does not allow followers to practice other schools than the "pure Gelug school". Those who practice other schools "mix the pure doctrine" and will be killed for that "crime" by the deity Dorje Shugden, or they will at least be punished by a terrible sickness and finally die a horrible death.
