While working with ITS communications at Chicago Public Schools, I visited Logandale Middle School and spoke with teachers and administrators involved with the Technology Immersion Pilot Project (TIPP) Critical Friends program to get their thoughts on one-to-one laptop environments.
Critical Friends, sponsored by eLearning, gave participating teachers the opportunity to visit and observe how other TIPP schools are using the one-to-one laptop setting. It also gave participants an opportunity to share practices, experiences, and challenges.
Though there was much debate and comment throughout the event, the one thing all TIPP participants did seem to agree on was this: having one computer per student in the classroom supplied teachers with an ever expanding platform to aid them in teaching their subjects and engaging their students in as many ways as there are students in the classroom.
This video was also originally accompanied by several audio podcasts where listeners could hear from teachers and administrators in their own words.
