Mga gunggong! Dialect is a version of a language. ie, Australian English and American English are dialects of the English language. Tagalog, Pampango, Ilocano are not dialects of each other! They are sister languages. Batangas Tagalog and Bulacan Tagalog are DIALECTS of the Tagalog language. Now you know the difference between "dialects" and sister languages!

@AkoSiJhioh not really, but i like it. why?

@alicemike11 do you understand it?

@lovelyskyako Mali. Officially, Filipino (and English) is the name of the national language. Tagalog, Bisaya, Cebuano and etc., 'yan ang mga dialect. Yes, kasama ang Tagalog sa dialect. It just so happens na marunong mag-Tagalog ang halos lahat ng mga Pilipino kaya ito ang naiiisip ng mga tao.

@iamcharlie21 It is a language. People are using it to communicate. Right? But it goes to a category called dialect.
@lovelyskyako Filipino is the National Language. Filipino is also use to refer to the people who lives in the Philippines.Bisaya, Kapampangan, Ilokano, Tagalog and such are dialects.Pilipino is no more referred to as a subject neither Tagalog as the National language because it was changed.DepEd and our government continually changed these things. Some people aren't just updated with these. So people calm down.If you're not sure with these.At least go and ask professionals or at least google it.
