This is my home brew Banki water turbine. It was designed to run with what little water I have available. As you can see in the video, there is barley enough in this creek to fill the pipe. The turbine supplies 4 amp 24 hours per day . This is enough to offset normal power usage in the afternoons so we no longer need to operate the generator to charge the batteries in the winter. This is my first successful attempt to build a crossflow turbine.

  • How did you build the runner? All by yourself or did you buy some pre-constructed pieces? Nice work thought!!!

  • @sercro Sercro, this is all home built. Even the housing is constructed of scrap hot water heaters. I spent about two days cutting and welding. At the end it took a full 8 hours of standing in one place with a grinder on a home built jig to get it profiled and balanced correctly.
