FOR 3GS USERS:
1.) Go into the At&T or Apple (or now, Verizon) store to use the newer devices.
2.) Go to Settings/Mail/MobileMe
3.) Click "Add Account".
4.) Enter your Apple ID info. Must have an account with Apple ID in order for this to work.
5.) After registering with MobileMe for free, delete your account off of the store's iPhone 4, iPad, or iPod Touch.
6.) Go home to set up your Find My iPhone application via me(.)com and you're all set!

description
it doesn't say anything about apple id and the password =/
