@arabslavegirl You wouldn't have noticed a difference because the originals were revised for later publishing to take out racist connotations and make Nancy "softer" and more fitting to Stratmeyer's view of how she should act. The same thing was done to the Hardy Boys novels as well and the boys gained a more than healthy respect for the law.The original novels published before 1959 had a much sassier Nancy rather than the demure one of later publishings.

I don't like new Nancy, she's too perky and soft-eyed and doesn't come across as sharp as Pamela Sue Anderson did as Nancy Drew. It's like they Stratmeyered her.

When Pamela Sue Martin left the show was doomed. Janet Louise Johnson couldn't act, she was just another cheerleader-partygirl-bimbo-wa­nnabe-bad-actress. Who picked her for the part of Nancy Drew anyway?
