Beautiful tank! Can you list the species that you have? I am building 450-liter Malawi and some of your fish look very interesting for me :)

Have you ever heard of a "hap ali?" Because i bought one at a local fish store and thats what they names it but it's a peacock cichlid and he/she is all black with a yellow stripe ontop his/her dorsal fin. Also what kind of food do you feed your fish their color is amazing!
those venustus will get killed later on

???? More likely to do the killing. Venustus can be mean!

It doesn't look right with those sevrums in a Malawi set up.

Focus on the first part!
That "Severum" tank was a 'limbo tank' That wasn't my big tank. I was buidling a fish room and had limited space(just moved). If you looked, it was a couple Malawis Peacocks and a Venustus in a SA/CA tank.. There were Severum, Green Terrors, Jack Dempseys and an Oscar, even a Red Festae. I've since gotten out out of the New World tanks and focus on Rift Lakes... I have 12 tanks of them!

Hey man, beautiful color variations. Seems you have the same likings as me with fish....awesome. What do you feed your fish to bring out their color? And is your German Red (the orange body with purple face) hormoned? How long have you had him?
jjett77 4 years ago
None of the fish are hormoned. I don't buy my fish from sources that 'juice' them.
I bought him as an adult, but I've also had him for quite a while, and his colors keep getting better. I've had people offer me money for this guy.
It's all the in the quailty of the strain/breeding, the feeding, and care. BUT, the best care and food can only do so much for a poorly bred fish.
