President George Bush will leave behind a legacy of decisions and policies that critics say has done extensive damage to Americans civil liberties and international obligations.

The opening of the Guantanamo Bay prison is one of a number of controversial decisions made by Bush that critics say have violated constitutional rights.

Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds examines Bush's controversial legacy.

@UnLiMiT3D86 Good post, but in kind, constructive criticism, you barely touch around matters of the state, like outing a CIA agent, ignoring the warnings prior to 9/11, hell Walt Disney did not have the imagination of making up his ginormous fuck ups. After 9/11 I think that all of us got behind him even though there is a lot of evidence that he in fact was appointed president. When he used 9/11 to fuck this country over, I will not refer to him as anything but governor.

if you understand who runs the world you will realize that Bush is a mere puppet. Proof? just look at what Obama is doing about what bush has done. You will see that we are headed down the same path. redhead761 During his 2nd term, Bush let the Republican party slide more to the center. He didn't keep the Republican ideology - small government, less spending. He did fight to protect our country. The Islamic radicals have been attacking us since the '70s. Carter helped fund the mujahideen which later became al-Qaeda and helped put the Ayetollah Khomeini into power. The Ayteollah helped build the Islamic radicals & killed more people in 1 yr than the Shah did in 25 years.

He allowed the 6 terror attacks go unanswered, he allowed muslims with ties to terrorists into America to use our phones, our computers, our ATMs to get money and instructions. then also allowed them to take flying lessons to practice for the attacks on 9-11.

redhead761 Clinton pulled our troops out of Somalia after some of our men were killed. The inaction from Clinton & him pulling our troops out of Somalia BEFORE the war was over emboldened the enemy. When ABCs John MIller interview Bin Laden, Osama said America was not the superpower we claimed to be, we could not finish a war, and were a "paper tiger".

redhead761 The Clinton administration was warned by Able Danger about the attacks against the USS Cole, about muslim men w/ ties to terrorists inside America - Clinton ignored it all. Clinton allowed The Wall of Separation to blind our national security even after the '93 WTC attack. After the 9-11 attacks, Bush took down The Wall , put up the Patriot Act and we haven't been attacked since.
